Tech. Sgt. Amanda Colbert is a 413th Force Support Flight NCO in charge of customer support who joined the Air Force Reserve with a chip on her shoulder and a goal in sight. Being the first person in her family to graduate high school, she wanted to take it a step further and attain a college degree as well.
“I think it was something I pushed myself for," said the Williamsburg, Kentucky, native. I didn’t have the best home life, and I had a lot of challenges growing up. So I had it as a goal set that to be successful in life, I needed to have a degree. I started when I was 18, so it was important for me to finally finish what I started.”
Colbert recently earned a bachelor’s degree in human resources, adding to three associate’s degrees in human resources, general studies and air transportation. But if you find her head in a book, it may not only be for educational purposes.
“I love to read,” she confessed. “I’m a book worm. I read about three books a week. I like Christian romance, sci-fi or fantasy, so I’m a bit of a nerd that way.”
